NID Jorhat offers admission on the basis of NID DAT scores to the B.Des programme. On March 28, 2024, the official authorities are scheduled to disclose the DAT preliminary results for admission.
National Institute of Design, Jorhat is located at Shankarpur, Jorhat, Assam. The foundation stone of NID Jorhat was laid on 19 February 2011 whereas the institute got inaugurated on 22 February 2019. Spread over 30 acres of land, NID Jorhat offers 4 Year Graduate Diploma Programme in Design i.e. GDPD in the area of Industrial Design, Textile and Apparel Design and Communication Design. The objective of the institute is to seek evidence of the attitude, achievement, aptitude, perception and motivation essential in a capable design student. NID Jorhat envisions research and practice, design education, with a focus on innovation & creativity in making things usable, meaningful, inclusive, useful, and delightful. The institute can boast of a state of art infrastructure and a strong body of faculty that let the institute from going from strength to strength. It comprises Design Library, Design Studios, Model Making Studios, Amphitheatre, Mess, Cafe, Medical Service, Auditorium, Design Shop and a Digital & IT Centre. The campus is equipped with advance facilities that let the students develop an understanding, world view of the Indian milieu and the social & cultural context for the design to operate and evolve.
